Answer guide

Can I put a birthday or proposal message on a public digital billboard — photo, video, and how to plan the minute

Scarcity first

Only one post live at a time. For a birthday or proposal, that means the whole screen is yours for sixty seconds — with a countdown — not a shared rotation loop. The £1 (or £5 on celebration days) is what makes that scarce minute bookable; scarcity is the product.

Can I put a birthday or proposal on a public digital billboard? (short answer)

Yes. Many physical networks sell birthday and personal shout-outs (for example UK day-rate packages from about £10/day, or US shout-outs from about $150). On MinuteFame, birthday shout-out and proposal are named allowed uses: a message, photo or short video for exactly 60 seconds of exclusive full-screen time. Only one post live at a time. Message or photo £1 on a standard minute, £5 on celebration days; video £5 on any day — /pricing, /rules.

Content must be yours to post, fit in 60 seconds, and stay inside the hard lines on /rules. Identifiable real people need consent.

Birthday billboards on physical screens (what people usually buy)

UK local LED birthday surprises

UK personal LED birthday packages often frame a full day with photos/artwork from about £10 per screen, recommend booking 2–3 days ahead, and play in rotation through the day — not one exclusive sixty seconds. Day rates more broadly sit about £10–£60/day (often incl. VAT).

US personal shout-outs

US networks commonly list birthday, memorial, anniversary and graduation shout-outs, with personal packages starting around $150 and tips to keep names + a simple message. Personal messaging on large-format boards is often framed at $50–$250 per day.

Milestone birthdays (18th, 40th, 60th) follow the same planning logic on those physical models.

Proposals on a public screen — what changes

Emotional stakes are higher; exact timing often matters more than a day-long rotation. MinuteFame lets you lock an exact future minute (up to 25 years ahead when free) — useful for a planned “look at this now” moment (/pricing).

Physical boards still win if the proposal must happen under a known street screen near you.

How MinuteFame works for celebrations

Allowed uses

Birthday shout-out, proposal, promo, meme, art, joke, personal message, short video — if yours to post, within hard lines, and fits 60 seconds (/pricing, /rules).

Pricing

TierPriceMedia
Standard minute (ordinary day)£1Message or photo
Celebration-day minute£5Message or photo on Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, US Independence Day, Thanksgiving (US, 4th Thursday of November)
Video minute (any day)£5Short video, celebration days included — never more

Video ops: book video ≥24 hours ahead; a person watches every clip; if not cleared, it does not air and is refunded in full (/rules). A video minute is £5 on any day; the price and the lead time both pay for that review.

Will they actually see it?

  • Physical LED: they need to be at (or pass) that location while it rotates.
  • Web exclusive minute: you share the live link / watch together at the booked minute (birthday morning, midnight NYE, etc.).

Soft proof that some celebrations ran and opted in: Wall of Fame.

Message tips (calm, not salesy)

Keep it short: names + a simple line. Photo or video both work if yours to post. For minors: sexual/exploitative content involving under-18 is a hard refuse; a real child’s identifiable photo for a genuine non-sexual family message is tightly limited — see /rules. Wall of Fame is opt-in, default off (/privacy).

Cancel before the surprise

If the minute has not started and has not already been refused, email support@minutefame.com to cancel for a full refund (/refunds). Wrong file / wrong minute that played as booked is not refunded.

FAQ

Can I put a birthday or proposal on a digital billboard?

Yes on many physical networks and on MinuteFame (named allowed uses). Photo or video both fit if yours to post, within rules, and within the format (60s exclusive on MinuteFame).

How much does a birthday billboard cost?

UK day-rate packages from about £10/day. US shout-outs often from about $150 or $50–$250/day. MinuteFame: £1 for a message or photo on an ordinary day, £5 on celebration days; £5 for a video on any day.

How far ahead should I book?

Physical birthday LEDs often recommend 2–3 days. MinuteFame allows exact-minute booking up to 25 years ahead; video still needs ≥24 hours before air for human review.

How do I make sure they see it?

On a street board: get them to the location. On MinuteFame: share the live board link and watch together at the exact booked minute. No invented “guaranteed views.”

Photo or video — which should I use?

Either. A photo is £1 on a standard day and £5 on a celebration day. A video is £5 on any day, never more, and needs ≥24h review lead time.

What about celebration days (NYE proposal, Christmas)?

Those five named days are £5 for a message or photo. Ordinary calendar days stay £1. A video is £5 on any day.

Can I cancel if plans change?

Yes before the minute starts (if not already refused) — full refund via email to support@minutefame.com (/refunds).
